Shepherd, 20 Sheep Killed In Wall Collapse As Gales Create Mayhem

ANANTAPUR: A shepherd, along with 20 sheep, were killed after a wall collapsed during a heavy gale that lashed Mailapur village in Bommanahal mandal of Rayadurg constituency in Anantapur district on Thursday evening.

The deceased was identified as Venkatesh, a local shepherd. According to reports, strong winds led to the collapse of a wall, killing him on the spot. Two others sustained severe injuries in the incident.

Police rushed to the spot after receiving information and took up relief measures.

Locals said several tin-roofed sheds were flattened in the village due to the strong winds. Trees and electric poles were uprooted at multiple places, disrupting power supply and plunging several areas in the mandal into darkness.
