Sharmila Demands Comprehensive Probe Into Liquor Scam

It is a economic fraud, she said and demanded that former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is answerable to the people about the liquor scam

AP Congress Committee President Y.S. Sharmila said that digital payment at wine shops was stalled during the YSRC rule, for black money. She demanded an in-depth probe into the liquor scam by the government.

It is a economic fraud, she said and demanded that former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is answerable to the people about the scam.

She was speaking to the media at Gannavaram airport. Right from the manufacture to the sale, the entire chain was corrupt. Even in this digital age, the YSRC government, surprisingly, accepted only cash at the wine shops. It is not just Rs 3,500 crore liquor scam, only cash was accepted to avoid taxes. A comprehensive probe should be launched into the entire matter. All the non-duty payments were made in black. Why was branded liquor was stalled and cheap liquor promoted? All this is part of the huge scam. In the last five years, over 30 lakh people complained of kidney issues. and more than 30,000 people died, she said.

The APCC chief suggested that the SIT and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu should focus on knowing the value of the non-duty liquor sold. There is a strong reason behind not accepting digital payment. Jagan should come to the Assembly and tell the people the reason behind why only cash was accepted. Jagan only speaks of only issues he is comfortable with. He did not speak of why he had dug off the Rushikonda Hill. There is no clarity on why Sakshi TV channel claimed former minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy died of heart attack. Jagan is an expert in sidelining important issues and diverting people's attention to trivial matters, she said.
