Serial Burglar Arrested In Naidupeta; Gold Worth Rs 37.44 Lakh Seized
According to SP V. Harshavardhan Raju, Manikantha had travelled to Naidupeta with the intent to commit thefts without drawing attention.

TIRUPATI: Naidupeta Urban police arrested a habitual house burglar and recovered stolen gold ornaments weighing 52 tolas (416 grams), valued at ₹37.44 lakh. The accused, identified as Chandaka Manikantha (28), a resident of Garuguvalasa village in Parvathipuram district, had made housebreaking a profession and was targeting homes in different regions while evading suspicion.
According to SP V. Harshavardhan Raju, Manikantha had travelled to Naidupeta with the intent to commit thefts without drawing attention. On July 5, he broke into a residence on Mugambika Temple Street and stole gold jewellery, following which a complaint was filed by the victim, Harindra Gangineni. Using technical surveillance, Naidupeta police tracked Manikantha to his native village and apprehended him within a week.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to four house thefts in Naidupet this year. Further investigation revealed that he has a criminal history with 14 cases registered against him across police stations in Tirupati district, Sri City, and Visakhapatnam commissionerate limits, including Muvvalavaripalem and Dwaraka PS. A suspect sheet is also maintained against him at Muvvalavaripalem Police Station.
SP Harshavardhan Raju appreciated the efforts of DSP G. Chenchu Babu, CI M. Babi, SI Adi Lakshmi, and their team for solving the case swiftly. He also rewarded the officers involved in the arrest and recovery operation.
