Security Tightened At S. Yanam Beach Ahead Of Sankranti

KAKINADA: Security arrangements have been stepped up at S. Yanam beach in Uppalaguptam mandal of Konaseema district ahead of the three-day Sankranti festival, when large crowds are expected.

Konaseema Superintendent of Police Rahul Meena visited the beach on Tuesday and reviewed the security measures. He instructed police officials to maintain continuous surveillance in the coastal area and ensure that visitors do not face any inconvenience during the festival.

The SP directed that caution boards be displayed at vulnerable spots and parking areas be earmarked to prevent traffic congestion. He also stressed the need to give priority to the safety of women and children in crowded areas and warned of strict action against those indulging in indecent behaviour.

He further ordered intensified patrolling along the beach and directed that lifeguards be kept on standby for emergencies. He also cautioned people against organising or participating in cockfights and gambling activities, warning that criminal action would be taken against anyone violating the law.
