SEC Sets Sept 9 Deadline for Ward-Wise Electoral Rolls in Municipal Corporations

Vijayawada: The State Election Commission (SEC) has issued a notification for publication of ward-wise photo electoral rolls for all municipal corporations in Andhra Pradesh by September 9 to facilitate the conduct of elections.
The notification will also facilitate the government in finalising reservations for mayoral posts and ward member seats in all municipal corporations, treating the state as a unit.
The ward-wise photo electoral rolls will be published along with the notice in Form-1 prescribed under the relevant rules.
Under Rules 3 and 5, the State Election Commissioner authorised the commissioners of all municipal corporations and the zonal commissioner concerned in respect of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) to prepare and publish the ward-wise photo electoral rolls.
The rolls will be prepared with January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date, by adopting the latest Assembly electoral rolls published and updated from time to time, insofar as they relate to the areas forming part of the respective municipal corporations and GVMC zones.
The SEC will issue procedural instructions on the preparation and publication of the ward-wise photo electoral rolls.
