SEC Directs Preparation, Publication Of Photo Electoral Rolls For MPTCs, ZPTCs

VIJAYAWADA: The State Election Commission (SEC) on Monday directed Mandal Parishad Development Officers 2(MPDOs) and chief executive officers of zilla parishads to prepare and publish photo electoral rolls for Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTCs) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs), respectively.
State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha said the photo electoral rolls of gram panchayats had already been published by district panchayat officers. These rolls have to be used for preparing the MPTC and ZPTC electoral rolls as per the procedure laid down in Rules 7(2) and 8(2) of the AP Panchayat Raj Rules, 2000.
The photo electoral rolls will be published for inspection at the offices of the zilla praja parishads and mandal praja parishads on September 11.
The state government had earlier reorganised the erstwhile 13 zilla praja parishads into 28 zilla praja parishads. The five-year terms of the mandal praja parishads and zilla praja parishads are due to expire on September 23 and 24, respectively.
The ordinary elections to members of the MPTCs and ZPTCs are to be conducted shortly.
