TIRUPATI: At least 17 students were injured when a private school bus was hit by a container truck near BC Colony in Srirangarajapuram mandal of Gangadhara Nellore constituency in Chittoor district on Friday.
According to police, the school bus was passing through the area when the container truck rammed into it, damaging the vehicle and injuring at least 17 students.
Local residents rushed to the spot and shifted the injured students to the Srirangarajapuram Primary Health Centre, where they were administered first aid. Doctors said their condition was stable. The accident led to a temporary traffic disruption on the stretch. Police reached the spot, cleared the vehicles involved and restored traffic. A case has been registered, and an investigation is under way to ascertain the cause of the accident.
