SC rejects Raju’s plea to transfer trial of Jagan’s DA case

Vijayawada: The Supreme Court has rejected a petition filed by former MP and Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, K. Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, seeking to transfer the trial in the disproportionate assets case against former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy from Hyderabad to another city, preferably Delhi, away from both the states, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
A division bench comprising Justice B.V. Navarathna and Justice Sathish Chandra Sharma heard the petition in New Delhi on Monday. The court observed that the Telangana High Court was monitoring the proceedings before the concerned CBI court and had directed day-to-day hearings. Therefore, the petitioner’s argument for transferring the case due to delays in prosecution was deemed unwarranted, and the plea was dismissed.
Earlier, petitioner Raju had withdrawn his petition seeking the cancellation of bail granted to former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
