SC Dismisses Anticipatory Bail Plea Of Ex-Minister Kakani

Nellore:In a significant legal setback for YSRCP Nellore district president and former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, the Supreme Court on Friday dismissed his anticipatory bail petition in the case related to illegal quartz mining and intimidation of people belonging to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.

Kakani, who has been absconding for over seven weeks, had approached the apex court with a special leave petition seeking protection from arrest.

However, a bench comprising Justice J.K. Maheshwari and Justice Aravind Kumar rejected the plea after hearing arguments from both Kakani’s counsel and the government’s legal representatives.

The dismissal of the bail plea paves the way for law enforcement agencies to move against the former minister, who remains untraceable despite mounting pressure and public attention.
