SC Commission Takes Up Dalit Grievances in Chittoor
During his two-day tour, he received representations and held a press conference

TIRUPATI: The state SC Commission on Wednesday began reviewing grievances of Scheduled Caste communities in Chittoor, with land disputes, caste certificate issues and access to welfare schemes emerging as key concerns.
Commission chairman K. S. Jawahar said petitions received during the visit would be examined and directions issued to district authorities. During his two-day tour, he received representations and held a press conference. He said several complaints related to land disputes and pending issues would be verified and taken up with departments for resolution.
Issues concerning caste certificates, particularly “Adi Andhra” and “Adi Andhra Christian” classifications, were also highlighted. The Commission is reviewing them to avoid delays in extending benefits. Jawahar said the panel was assessing whether welfare schemes were reaching eligible beneficiaries, with focus on Dalit development within the 15% reservation framework.
He said meetings were held with the Collector and SP, and directions issued to address grievances. He stressed making Chittoor discrimination-free and warned of action if benefits were denied on caste grounds.
