Satya Kumar Lashes Out At Jagan Over Misinformation Campaign On Medical Colleges
The minister criticised Jagan Mohan Reddy for failing to fulfil his own commitments regarding medical education expansion.

Vijayawada: Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav lashed out at former chief minister and YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for launching a misinformation campaign on the development of government medical colleges under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. He alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy was attempting to divert public attention as several irregularities from his regime including the use of adulterated ghee in Tirupati laddu preparation and large-scale corruption — were now being exposed.
Reacting sharply to the YSRC’s state-wide call to stage protests over the alleged privatisation of government medical colleges on Wednesday, the minister said that despite being reduced to 11 seats in the 2024 Assembly elections, Jagan Mohan Reddy had failed to learn any lesson from the people’s verdict.
He asserted that under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh was witnessing all-round development, with the NDA government setting a target of generating 20 lakh jobs. “Unable to digest such progress, Jagan is resorting to baseless propaganda out of fear for his political survival,” he said.
The minister criticised Jagan Mohan Reddy for failing to fulfil his own commitments regarding medical education expansion. He pointed out that although the former chief minister had promised 2,550 additional MBBS seats across 17 government medical colleges for 2025–26, only 750 seats were made available.
Clarifying the state’s current plans, Satya Kumar said that the proposed development of 10 government medical colleges under the PPP model would create an additional 220 seats every year, of which 110 seats would be reserved for poor students.
