Satish Babu Seeks Greater Share for AP under Samudra Manthan Initiative

Satish Babu welcomed the initiative and said the Krishna-Godavari (KG) Basin, one of the country’s most promising offshore energy regions, is located off the Andhra Pradesh coast.

Kakinada: Rajya Sabha member Sana Satish Babu has urged the Centre to ensure Andhra Pradesh receives a larger share of benefits under the Union government’s Samudra Manthan initiative.

Speaking at the petroleum ministry’s consultative committee meeting in New Delhi on Monday, Satish Babu welcomed the initiative and said the Krishna-Godavari (KG) Basin, one of the country’s most promising offshore energy regions, is located off the Andhra Pradesh coast.

He said Andhra Pradesh, with its 974-km coastline, resource-rich KG Basin, major ports and industrial potential, is well placed to emerge as India’s offshore energy hub. He expressed confidence that the Samudra Manthan initiative would boost the state’s economy while contributing to the country’s energy security, industrial growth and employment generation.

Satish Babu also urged the Centre to establish a common offshore infrastructure hub at Kakinada or Visakhapatnam for processing, evacuation and logistics related to offshore discoveries.
