Visakhapatnam: The SARAS-2025 Fair in Visakhapatnam concluded on Friday on a high note, recording brisk business and attracting large crowds. The fair, known for promoting rural entrepreneurship and handicrafts, achieved cumulative sales of Rs 17,11, 63, 200, including ₹11,33,3,800 up to December 25.
On the penultimate day alone, sales stood at ₹2,35,47,200. Digital payments dominated, with UPI transactions accounting for ₹1,41,10,400, while cash sales amounted to ₹94,36, 800. Andhra Pradesh led daily sales with ₹1,51,10,500, while participants from other states together registered ₹84,36,700.
Within Andhra Pradesh, Visakhapatnam emerged as the top performer, followed by Guntur and YSR Kadapa. Vizianagaram and Kakinada also crossed the ₹5 crore mark in cumulative sales. Parvathipuram Manyam contributed ₹39,57,500, with UPI transactions forming the bulk.
Among other states, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra posted strong sales, while Tripura, Rajasthan and West Bengal also recorded significant turnover.
The fair featured handlooms, handicrafts, jewellery, home décor, organic foods and region-specific products. Organised by the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty, the event saw participation from 574 women of self-help groups managing 268 stalls. Digital payments accounted for over 80 per cent of sales in several districts, reflecting the growing shift towards cashless transactions.
