Sankranti Sambaralu Begin in Godavari Villages

Kakinada: Sankranti Sambaralu celebrations began across the Godavari districts, with villagers observing the festival with enthusiasm.
On Saturday, Sankranti Sambaralu were organised at Gangalakurru village in Ambajipeta mandal of Konaseema district. Women and girls, dressed in traditional attire, performed Gobbemma pujas, sang folk songs and played kolatam. The celebrations also featured Haridasu keertanas, Gangireddu performances and tambourine music.
Large crowds gathered to watch the festivities. A display of paddy heaped with bullocks emerged as a special attraction.
On January 1, former Pithapuram MLA S.V.S.N. Varma participated in Sankranti celebrations at Pithapuram, where a traditional cockfight was organised. Two cocks were released for the event.
