Visakhapatnam: Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao has directed officials to prepare detailed proposals for the development of Sagar Nagar Beach, with plans for beautification and the creation of an eat street to boost tourism.
At a review meeting with GVMC engineering officials on Wednesday, the MLA said that the ₹16-crore project will cover an 800-metre stretch of the beach, located near popular Ramakrishna Beach and Rushikonda Beach. Proposals include pathways, a pavilion, a coffee shop, temporary stalls, parking, restrooms and a conservation centre for Olive Ridley turtles. A box culvert has also been planned to divert wastewater entering the sea.
The eat street, estimated at ₹3 crore, will feature 18 stalls with seating for 220 people. Rao suggested locating it closer to the beach for better accessibility.
As the land falls under the forest department, coordination with its officials was recommended for smooth execution.
MLC Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao, GVMC executive engineer Shanthiraju, DE T. Manikumar and consultant Aditya took part in the meeting.
