SAAP Inaugurates Indoor Boxing Facility in Tirupati

Tirupati: A modern indoor boxing hall was inaugurated at the Srinivasa Sports Complex in Tirupati on Monday.
The facility has been established with financial support from the Junior Chamber International (JCI), Tirupati, following a commitment by education minister N. Lokesh to improve sports infrastructure in the region.
Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) chairman A. Ravi Naidu inaugurated the facility and formally dedicated it to sportspersons. He later inspected the boxing ring, training area, coaching facilities and other infrastructure at the hall.
Addressing the gathering, Ravi Naidu said the state government is giving priority to the development of sports infrastructure to help young athletes realise their potential. He said the indoor boxing hall would enable boxers to train throughout the year without disruption from adverse weather conditions.
He expressed confidence that the facility would serve as both a training centre and a venue for preparing athletes to compete at the state, national and international levels. He said access to modern infrastructure and qualified coaches would help young boxers from the Tirupati region improve their performance.
JCI Tirupati representative Dr N.B. Harshavardhan Reddy, SAAP board member Rajini, Kapu Corporation director Thota Vasu, Tirupati district sports development officer Sasidhar, boxing coaches, sportspersons and representatives of sports associations attended the programme.
