Rs.432.19 Crore in Central Aid for AP Samagra Shiksha Scheme
Under the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Nyay Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN), the Centre has sanctioned Rs.210.5 crore for construction of 79 hostels across the state in two phases.

Vijayawada: Education Minister Nara Lokesh has been attempting to better equip the government schools in the state. A boost to came with the Centre sanctioning an additional Rs.432.19 crore for the Samagra Shiksha scheme this year.
An official release here said the department of School Education and Samagra Shiksha are jointly implementing innovative programmes aimed at enhancing the standards in learning so as to make Andhra Pradesh a guiding force in India’s education sector.
The Centre, it said, has repeatedly begun sanctioning funds for Samagra Shiksha in AP. “The state is getting special priority in this due to minister Lokesh’s pushes. As a result of his initiatives, the Centre has been releasing additional funds for Samagra Shiksha and the School Education department,” they said.
“To strengthen secondary and senior secondary students, the Centre has sanctioned an additional ₹167.46 crore for setting up ICT (Information and Communication Technology) labs, smart classrooms, and science labs across schools. Further, for upgrading DIET (District Institutes of Education and Training) colleges into Centres of Excellence, the Centre, had earlier provided only 50 per cent of the required funds.”
This year, it sanctioned 96 per cent of the required funds-- ie, Rs.43.23 crore, out of the total `45 crore. Funds would also be allocated in phases to convert other DIET colleges into Centres of Excellence.
The release said that under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA) scheme, the Centre has sanctioned Rs.11 crore for construction of four hostels for tribal students in the state. This flagship programme of the central government aims at improving the social and economic conditions of tribal communities.
The scheme, it added, would be implemented over five years from 2024–25 to 2028–29, focusing on the holistic development of tribal-majority villages through better infrastructure, education, healthcare and livelihood opportunities.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Nyay Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN), the Centre has sanctioned Rs.210.5 crore for construction of 79 hostels across the state in two phases. Last year, funds for only four hostels were sanctioned. This year, it approved the highest-ever allocation for 79 hostels in AP.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme, the Centre has sanctioned 80 additional schools for Andhra Pradesh, the statement added.
