Rs 97.52 Crore Central Funds for Development of Suryalanka Beach

The collector made these announcements at a review meeting he held with the district officials on Wednesday.

Vijayawada: Bapatla district collector J. Venkata Murali has disclosed that the Indian government has allocated ₹97.52 crore to the Suryalanka Beach under the "Swadeshi Darshan 2.0" scheme. Additionally, the AP Tourism Development Corporation has been allotted 25 acres of land for various tourism enhancement projects.

The collector made these announcements at a review meeting he held with the district officials on Wednesday. He told officials to ensure that these development works at Suryalanka Beach do not disrupt the mangrove ecosystem, a unique natural resource in the region.

“Mangroves are vital for maintaining our ecosystem. It is our responsibility to protect these species from extinction,” Venkata Murali stated. The mangroves stretch from the Suryalanka Beach to Nizampatnam. They contribute to the area's ecological diversity and are a key attraction for tourists.

He expressed confidence that visitors who reach the region as part of organised tours would appreciate the lush greenery provided by the mangroves.

Recognising the local community's dependence on the mangrove forests for fishing, the collector instructed officials to halt any activities that involve removal of mangrove plants while Suryalanka Beach is being developed.
