Rs 500 Crore Sanctioned for MJP Institutions, Says Savita
Six MJP schools would be upgraded into colleges, and 10 new residential schools would be opened next year.

Separate coaching institutions for NEET and IIT aspirants are also being planned.
Addressing a felicitation programme for meritorious students of MJP Residential Schools and BC hostels at Tummalapalli Kshetrayya Kalakshetram here on Tuesday, she said BC welfare educational institutions had emerged as the best performers in the state in SSC and Intermediate results.
Savita said the alliance government had transformed BC welfare institutions through improved infrastructure, quality education and better hostel facilities. She noted that BC welfare schools recorded a sharp rise in pass percentage from 77 last year to 87 this year, while residential schools achieved 96.4 per cent results. Polavaram district secured 100 per cent pass results.
The minister said the government had cleared pending diet bills worth Rs 110 crore immediately after assuming office and introduced better food facilities for students. RO plants, mosquito mesh, inverters and sanitation facilities were being provided in hostels, while 1,500 new toilets were under construction. Recruitment of 1,291 sanitation workers would also be taken up shortly.
Savita credited teachers, wardens, officials and parents for the students’ achievements and said the government was spending nearly Rs 1.5 lakh per student in MJP residential schools and Rs 75,000 per student in BC hostels.
An emotional moment unfolded when Nellore student Praneetha, who scored 589 marks in SSC, spoke fluently in English during the programme. Her mother Lakshmidevi became emotional on stage, prompting the minister to console and encourage the family.
Top-performing SSC and Intermediate students received cash awards, certificates and mementoes. Through the SRR Trust, Savita also distributed free school bags to 400 students.
