Rs 330 Crore Plant For Solid Waste Management In Kurnool
Kurnool will get a ₹330-crore solid waste management project, including a plant to process 200 metric tonnes of waste daily.
A permanent solid waste management project is being taken up in Kurnool city at a cost of `330 crore, Swachha Andhra Corporation chairman K. Pattabhiram said on Wednesday.
Pattabhiram inspected the dumping yard at Gargayapuram and reviewed the progress of the Waste-to-Energy Integrated Solid Waste Management project being executed there. He said a plant would be established on 15 acres with a capacity to process 200 metric tonnes of waste a day.
He also inspected the Joharapuram dumping yard, where nearly 10 lakh metric tonnes of accumulated waste is being remediated through bio-mining. As part of modern waste management measures, another plant would be established on 9.5 acres at a cost of `8 crore, he said.
Earlier, Pattabhiram, along with minister T.G. Bharath, launched 30 electric autos at Konda Reddy Buruju for door-to-door garbage collection. The electric vehicles have been introduced in place of fuel-powered vehicles and will be used to collect wet and dry waste separately.
Bharath said another 61 electric vehicles would be brought soon. He said road, drainage and park development works were being taken up in Kurnool city at an estimated cost of `140 crore.
Collector Dr A. Siri and municipal commissioner Challa Obulesu were among those present.
