Rs 10 Crore Allocated for Rottela Panduga Preparations at Barashaheed Dargah

Municipal administration minister Ponguru Narayana, accompanied by Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and state Waqf Board chairman Abdul Aziz, inspected the arrangements and reviewed preparations with officials at the dargah on Thursday.

Nellore: The Andhra Pradesh government has allocated Rs 10 crore for development and infrastructure works at the historic Barashaheed Dargah ahead of the annual rottela panduga, which will be held for five days from June 26.

Municipal administration minister Ponguru Narayana, accompanied by Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and state Waqf Board chairman Abdul Aziz, inspected the arrangements and reviewed preparations with officials at the dargah on Thursday.

The minister said the 415-year-old festival is a symbol of communal harmony and attracts lakhs of devotees from across the country and abroad. He directed officials to complete all works by June 24.

Narayana said funds from the state government, the Waqf Board and the municipal corporation would be utilised for the comprehensive development of the shrine and festival-related infrastructure.

He said the government intends to conduct this year’s festival on a larger scale and instructed officials to ensure adequate drinking water supply, sanitation facilities, mobile toilets, clean bathing ghats and separate amenities for men and women devotees.

The minister also directed departments concerned to coordinate closely to ensure smooth conduct of the festival and provide all necessary facilities for pilgrims visiting the dargah.
