VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh home minister Vangalapudi Anitha said that the role of mothers in shaping society is invaluable and noted that celebrating Mother’s Day is a matter of pride for everyone.
Mother’s Day celebrations were held with enthusiasm at the Bandham Old Age Home for elderly women at Goshala village in the Penamaluru mandal of the Krishna district on Sunday. She attended the event along with her family members and spent time interacting warmly with the inmates of the ashram.
As part of the celebrations organised under the minister’s initiative, Anitha joined the elderly women in cutting a cake and conveyed Mother’s Day greetings to them. She later distributed fruits and saris among the inmates, bringing cheer to the residents of the home.
The minister personally met each elderly woman at the ashram and enquired about their health and well-being. Her visit created a festive atmosphere at the facility, with the inmate’s expressing happiness over the interaction.
Addressing the gathering, Anitha described a mother as the embodiment of selfless love and extended greetings to all mothers who dedicate their lives to the upbringing of their children.
“The hardships endured by a mother are beyond description. Every mother constantly strives to see her children reach greater heights in life,” the minister said. She added that she had brought her own children to the programme so they could understand the value and sacrifices of a mother.
