Roadworks, repairs in full swing: Minister
Now, as per the Chief Minister’s directions, road construction is being undertaken to enhance connectivity across national highways, state highways, and local roads from the mandal level to the constituency level.

Kurnool: Roads and buildings minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy stated that since the coalition government assumed power, new roads are being constructed for the convenience of the people. On Monday, the minister laid the foundation stone for road works extending to Peapully, Yaganti, and Banaganapalle, a project planned at a cost of `12.50 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister recalled that under the previous YSRC government, not only was the R and B department weakened, but industries also moved to neighbouring states. Now, as per the Chief Minister’s directions, road construction is being undertaken to enhance connectivity across national highways, state highways, and local roads from the mandal level to the constituency level.
Officials have already been instructed to prepare plans to convert the single-lane roads at Peapully, Yaganti, and Banaganapalle into four-lane roads, with bridges being constructed at dangerous turns at a cost of `4–5 crore. The minister further mentioned that 22,000 kilometres of pothole-free roads have already been constructed, and soon the roads that are damaged beyond repair will be redeveloped under the "C" category at a cost of `1,000 crore. Additionally, plans are underway for projects estimated at `3,000 crore, pending government approval.
The minister stressed that the state is balancing development with welfare, noting that Andhra Pradesh now proudly ranks second in India's growth rate. He criticised the previous government for neglecting rural areas, mismanaging the Panchayat Raj system, and implementing ineffective programmes that burdened the people with inferior liquor—thereby mortgaging the income generated from it. In contrast, since the coalition government came to power, quality liquor is being provided, and free sand is being distributed to the people.
Further, the minister announced that the Thalliki Vandanam and Annadata Sukhibhava schemes will be implemented in May. He also noted that the construction work of the Amaravati capital is accelerated, the Polavaram project is being finalised, and efforts to make Rayalaseema more fertile are underway.
