Road Sanctioned for Blind Cricket Captain Deepika's Village Within Hours

Madakasira Telugu Desam in-charge and former zilla parishad chairman G. Thippeswamy thanked the Deputy Chief Minister for the immediate sanction of funds, stating that the long-pending demand of villagers had finally been addressed.

Anantapur: Within hours of a plea by Indian Women’s Blind Cricket Team captain Deepika T.C., Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan on Saturday sanctioned approach roads to her native village Tambalahatti in Amarapuram mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district.

During an interaction while felicitating Deepika, the Deputy Chief Minister was informed that Tambalahatti village had no proper road connectivity from either side. Deepika said villagers were forced to walk long distances to reach Hemavathi, a historic Shiva pilgrimage centre, to access bus services, as the village lies close to the Karnataka border.

Responding swiftly, Pawan Kalyan directed the panchayat raj department to take up the works on a war footing. Following his instructions, Madakasira panchayat raj officials submitted proposals for two approach roads — one from Hemavathi to Tambalahatti and another from Gunehalli in Gudibanda mandal to Tambalahatti.

Officials estimated the Hemavathi–Tambalahatti road at Rs 3.20 crore and the 5-km Gunehalli–Tambalahatti road at Rs 3 crore. The proposals were approved on Saturday itself, with works sanctioned at a total cost of Rs 6.20 crore.
