Road Connectivity to Remote Tribal Areas Is Top Priority, Pawan Tells Collectors
The project was aimed at improving infrastructure access for interior tribal areas.

Vijayawada: Calling for results-oriented governance, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday directed district collectors to work with dedication and advance the objectives of the state government.
Providing road connectivity to remote tribal habitations is the top priority for the government in its development agenda, he said while addressing the 5th collectors’ conference at the state secretariat on Wednesday.
The Deputy CM participated in the meeting alongside Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, cabinet colleagues and senior officials. Kalyan commended the proactive role played by district collectors in effectively implementing the ‘Adavi Thalli Baata’ initiative.
The project was aimed at improving infrastructure access for interior tribal areas.
Pawan Kalyan congratulated the collectors for their contribution to the state’s development and urged them to continue aligning their efforts with the government’s vision. Under his Panchayat Raj and rural development departments, Palle Panduga 1.0 had been completed within the stipulated time-frame due to coordinated efforts at the district level, Pawan Kalyan said.
He said the works executed through MGNREGS funds under Palle Panduga 1.0 led to the completion of nearly 4,000km of cement concrete roads across villages within a year. To support farmers, the government constructed 22,500 mini Gokulams, 15,000 water troughs, and 1.2 lakh farm ponds, all completed on schedule.
For the 2025–26 financial year, employment was provided to 41.12 lakh rural families, generating 15.95 crore person-days of work. Wages amounting to Rs 4,330 crore were disbursed, while an additional Rs 1,056.85 crore was released under the material component, significantly boosting rural livelihoods.
The Deputy CM also said AP ranked first in the country in the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan training programmes, which enhanced the capacity and efficiency of Panchayat Raj personnel. He called upon collectors to focus on strengthening governance at the grassroots level and to push for the digitization of tax and non-tax revenue systems in Gram Panchayats.
Referring to the Swachh Ratham initiative launched in June, Pawan Kalyan said the programme was yielding encouraging results, expanding from one unit to 25 units within months. He also cited notable achievements in securing forest clearances for tribal road projects, with the Parvathipuram Manyam district achieving 100 per cent clearance and Alluri district securing approvals for a majority of works.
“These achievements reflect the seriousness with which collectors are implementing Adavi Thalli Baata. With greater enthusiasm and unwavering commitment, they must continue to serve the people,” Pawan Kalyan said.
