Rising Stream Disrupts Andhra–Karnataka Connectivity
Heavy rains accompanied by strong gusty winds have lashed several other parts of Kurnool district, including Kurnool, Kodumur, Veldurthi and Adoni mandals, on Saturday evening, leading to waterlogging in several low-lying areas.

Kurnool: Transport between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka has been temporarily disrupted after the Katravanka stream near Chintakunta village in Halaharvi mandal of Kurnool district has started rising due to heavy rains upstream.
The water is flowing over a temporary bridge constructed as part of the ongoing national highway works, halting vehicular movement.
Villagers said the rising water will continue to disrupt transport for a day or two, before the water level in the stream starts falling down. They pointed out that traffic would not have been disrupted had the permanent bridge been completed, instead of being delayed.
Traffic disruptions are inevitable during the rainy season. Significantly, heavy rains lashed Halaharvi mandal and several surrounding villages on Saturday night. Revenue officials reported that the mandal recorded 8.3 cm of rainfall. Thunderstorms and lightning continued through the night.
As a result, streams have begun overflowing at many villages, affecting normal life. In particular, the road leading to Gulyam has suffered damage after water started flowing over a bridge, eroding the surface. The damage has made vehicular movement difficult, causing inconvenience to local people.

Officials said strong winds and lightning are causing more damage than the rain itself.
