Retired Teacher Duped of ₹60 Lakh by Cyber Fraudsters in Bapatla
They accused him of sending objectionable messages to women and being involved in human trafficking

Vijayawada: A retired teacher from Amruthaluru in Bapatla district was duped of `60 lakh by cyber fraudsters, who tricked him into believing he was involved in a criminal case.
The fraudsters, posing as police officers from Karnataka and Telangana, contacted Ramabrahmam, claiming that two cases had been filed against him. They accused him of sending objectionable messages to women and being involved in human trafficking. The fraudsters further alleged that `75 lakh had been deposited in his bank account as part of a scam related to job offerings.
They pressured him to pay money to resolve the fabricated charges. Fearing legal consequences, Ramabrahmam transferred a total of `60 lakh to the fraudsters over a period of time. However, when the scammers continued demanding more money, he confided in a friend. After realising that he had been deceived, the retired teacher filed a complaint with the police.
