Reservoirs in Vizag Get Heavy Inflows
Mudasarlova Reservoir received fresh inflows following two days of rain, with runoff from the Kambalakonda hills raising its water level by nearly three feet.
Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam and surrounding reservoirs received heavy inflows following rainfall caused by the deep depression over the past three days, easing concerns over water supply.
The rains are also expected to recharge groundwater.
The water level at Tatipudi Reservoir stood at 278 feet on Thursday against the full reservoir level of 297 feet.
The level at Meghadrigedda was 49 feet against 61 feet, Mudasarlova 160 feet against 168 feet, Gambheeram 123 feet against 126 feet and Gosthani 31 feet against 35 feet.
Mudasarlova and Gambheeram had nearly dried up due to deficient rainfall during the first three months of the monsoon.

The level rose from 151.4 feet to 154.4 feet by Wednesday.
The reservoir is a key source of drinking water for several areas, including Arilova.
Its near depletion in recent months had raised concerns among residents, who hope the fresh inflows will help recharge groundwater and ease the drinking water shortage.
Residents, however, alleged that roads and other development works had blocked natural water channels from the Simhachalam hills, limiting runoff into the reservoir.
They urged authorities to restore the traditional drainage routes to improve inflows during future rains.
Visakhapatnam urban area received the highest rainfall in the district at 41 cm between 8.30 am on September 21 and September 24.
Gopalapatnam recorded 36.5 cm, followed by Maharanipeta 35.4 cm, Mulagada 34.7 cm, Peda Gantyada 34.5 cm, Pendurthi 33.1 cm, Gajuwaka 28.7 cm, Bheemunipatnam 28.8 cm and Padmanabham 19 cm.
