Renigunta Sub-Registrar Office Under Scrutiny After Complaints

The collector said the Renigunta SRO was among the highest revenue-generating offices in the State and that the government had taken the complaints seriously

TIRUPATI: The district administration has initiated steps to streamline the functioning of the Renigunta Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) following corruption allegations and recent controversies linked to the office.

As part of the exercise, district collector Dr S. Venkateswar conducted a surprise inspection of the SRO on Friday to review registration procedures, service delivery and public facilities. He interacted with applicants and assessed the overall functioning of the office.

While some applicants expressed satisfaction with the services, others complained about delays in the issuance of market value certificates and encumbrance certificates. The collector took note of the grievances and sought explanations from the officials concerned.

Venkateswar instructed the sub-registrar and staff to expedite service delivery and ensure timely processing of documents. He directed officials to return registered documents to applicants on the same day wherever possible and to resolve technical or system-related issues immediately.

During the inspection, the collector noticed the presence of unauthorised persons inside the office premises and warned the sub-registrar of strict action if such practices continued. He ordered officials to ensure that only authorised staff were allowed inside the office.

The collector said the Renigunta SRO was among the highest revenue-generating offices in the State and that the government had taken the complaints seriously. He said suspension action had already been initiated against staff found to have acted irresponsibly.

District registrar Sriram Kumar was present during the inspection.
