Remand Report Alleges Rs 192 Cr Irregularities in AP Liquor Transport Tenders
The SIT alleged that dummy and benami firms were brought into the bidding process to create the appearance of competition.
VIJAYAWADA: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CID, in its remand report submitted before the ACB Special Court, has alleged financial irregularities amounting to Rs 192 crore in the Andhra Pradesh liquor transport tender process.
The report was filed in connection with the arrest of former Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limited (APSBCL) managing director D. Vasu Deva Reddy (A-1), Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy (A-4) and Karumuri Sunil (A-8), who were produced before the court on Monday. The court remanded all the three to judicial custody till August 3.
According to the remand report, the accused allegedly altered the norms governing liquor transport tenders to favour firms, including Sigma and Prasad Transport. The SIT alleged that dummy and benami firms were brought into the bidding process to create the appearance of competition.
The report further alleged that the transport rate was increased from Rs 19.68 per kilometre to Rs 35 per kilometre, resulting in a financial impact of Rs 192 crore. It also claimed that Sigma Transport was granted four extensions without fresh tenders being invited.
The SIT further alleged that the liquor transport tender process was shifted from a decentralised to a centralised model without obtaining mandatory approval from the state government.
