Red Sanders Smuggler Sentenced To Five Years’ RI, Fined ₹6 Lakh
Special public prosecutor Aluguri Amar Narayana presented the prosecution case. Following the conviction, the accused was remanded to Nellore Central Jail as per court orders.

TIRUPATI: The Red Sanders Special Court in Tirupati on Friday sentenced a red sanders smuggler to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹6 lakh for illegal transportation of red sanders from the Seshachalam forest area.
Additional District and Sessions Judge (Red Sanders Special Court) Narasimha Murthy delivered the verdict in a case registered by the Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF). The accused, M. Ramakrishna of Tiruvannamalai district in Tamil Nadu, was arrested in connection with Crime No. 57 of 2017.
According to the prosecution, Ramakrishna was apprehended in the Perumallapalli beat of the T.N. Palem section under the Tirupati forest division while allegedly involved in red sanders smuggling. After a detailed trial, the court found the charges proved.

RSASTF SP P. Srinivas said the judgment should serve as a deterrent against illegal felling, smuggling of red sanders and unauthorised entry into the Seshachalam reserve forest.
