Red Sandalwood Smuggler Nagadastagiri Reddy Arrested in Kadapa

Police seized one ton of red sandalwood logs and two vehicles from their possession.

Kadapa: Police have arrested notorious red sandalwood smuggler Nagadastagiri Reddy, who had been evading capture for the past year and a half.

District SP Ashok Kumar said the accused was caught in the Lankamalla forest area during raids conducted on specific intelligence, while red sandalwood logs were being transported to Delhi.

Along with Nagadastagiri, five other smugglers were nabbed. Police seized one ton of red sandalwood logs and two vehicles from their possession. The gang was reportedly operating under the leadership of Lala Basha and Fakhruddin, who are already in jail.

According to the SP, Nagadastagiri has a criminal record of 86 red sandalwood smuggling cases, 34 theft cases, and three PD Act cases. His wife, Lalubi, was also arrested a week ago.
