Red Cross To Provide Free Prosthetic Arms In AP From August 2

VIJAYAWADA: Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) and Rotary International will provide advanced prosthetic hands to persons with upper limb amputations, especially those from economically weaker sections through the “Cheyutha” project.
Addressing a press conference in Vijayawada on Tuesday, Dr. G. Samaram, chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society, NTR district, and Rotarian S. Ravi Prakash, president of Rotary Club of Vijayawada, announced details of their humanitarian initiative.
Dr. Samaram said the loss of a hand often results not only in physical disability but also in the loss of livelihood, making it difficult for many families to sustain themselves. He said provision of state-of-the-art LN4 prosthetic hands free of cost would enable beneficiaries to perform routine daily activities independently, improve their employment prospects, and lead a life with dignity and confidence.
The free prosthetic Cheyutha camps will be held in Guntur on August 2, Vizianagaram on August 16, and Anantapur on August 30.
Persons with an upper limb amputation below the elbow with at least four inches of residual limb are eligible to apply for the programme.
Dr. Samaram and Ravi Prakash have asked eligible beneficiaries to register themselves by contacting 8866306969. They appealed to all eligible persons, particularly those from poor and underprivileged families, to take advantage of the initiative and rebuild their lives.
