Rayalaseema Denied Krishna Water Access: Samithi Leaders

Kurnool: Rayalaseema Sagu Neeti Sadhana Samithi leaders have expressed concern over the government's failure to complete crucial infrastructure needed to deliver Krishna waters from Srisailam to Rayalaseema irrigation projects. Despite completion of the Pothireddypadu Head Regulator, Krishna Right Main Canal, and Banakacherla Cross Regulator, the supporting structures to channel water to major reservoirs like Gandikota, Mylavaram, and Brahma Sagar remain incomplete.

Meanwhile, about 18,000 cusecs of Krishna water was diverted through the Nippulavagu and Galeru rivers into the Kundu river, flooding nearby farms and causing losses to farmers. Fearing submergence in the Nandyal region, locals are anxious. The Samithi leaders B. Dasaratharami Reddy and Y. N. Reddy urged the government to complete works at Gorukallu and enhance Madras Canal capacity for long-term irrigation needs.
