The girl is undergoing treatment at the Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru.

Anantapur: The Class X student, who had been attacked with an electric saw at Raptadu Zilla Parishad High School in Anantapur district, has started responding to treatment.

She has started slowly communicating after being taken off ventilator support, Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav said.

The girl is undergoing treatment at the Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru.

She had been critical when admitted to the hospital.

Doctors have performed various surgeries, including plastic surgery.

She is now responding, speaking a few words at a time.

Doctors have removed her from ventilator support, the minister said.

Her high-flow oxygen support is being gradually reduced.

She is tolerating nutrition administered through a nasal tube.

After detecting anaemia, doctors gave her a blood transfusion to improve her condition.

Her condition is stable and she is responding to treatment.

The medical team attending on the student is continuing physiotherapy to improve her limb movement and strengthen her chest muscles.

Antibiotics, painkillers, and other supportive treatment are continuing.

Satya Prasad said a team of specialists is continuing to monitor her condition and adjusting treatment in accordance with her recovery.

State government has released funds to meet her medical expenses at the Manipal Hospital.

The other girl injured in the attack has undergone minor surgeries on her leg at Anantapur Government General Hospital (GGH).

Recalling the attack on her friend and her attempt to save her, the student objected to the accused receiving treatment at the government hospital.

She asked the police to eliminate him, saying she is ready to kill him herself.

With regard to the accused, GGH doctors removed a portion of his right leg on Monday after it developed gangrene.

Police had shot him in the legs after he attacked with a knife one of the team members who had gone to arrest him.
