Ranganatha Swamy Temple Trust Board Takes Oath

Nellore: The newly constituted trust board of the historic Sri Talpagiri Ranganatha Swamy Temple took oath on Sunday in the presence of endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and MAUD minister Ponguru Narayana.

Vedic scholars and endowments officials accorded a traditional welcome before chairman Lekkala Venkat Reddy and 11 board members formally assumed charge.

Addressing the gathering, Anam said the ancient temple was a sacred institution and urged the board to treat their positions as a responsibility towards devotees’ welfare. He said the government under N. Chandrababu Naidu was restoring the spiritual glory of temples through reforms and development works.

The minister said ₹832 crore had been sanctioned for renovation of 706 temples across the state, while ₹74.04 crore was being spent annually under the Dhupa Deepa Naivedyam scheme for 6,170 temples.

Minister Narayana said nearly ₹25 crore had been sanctioned for development of five temples in Nellore city. He announced plans for permanent annadanam facilities, reconstruction of the western Rajagopuram, restoration of the mirror hall, modernization of the Penna ghat and improved parking facilities.
