Rambabu Arrested Over Remarks on Naidu

Rambabu’s wife Vijayalakshmi approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court with an urgent petition, alleging illegal detention by the police.

Vijayawada: Police arrested former minister and YSR Congress senior leader Ambati Rambabu for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday.

The arrest followed heightened tension in Guntur after a controversy linked to a flex banner, during which Rambabu allegedly made derogatory remarks targeting the Chief Minister.

Following the arrest, enraged Telugu Desam cadres allegedly set fire to Rambabu’s office-cum-residence in Guntur. Police rushed additional forces to the area and took steps to bring the situation under control.

Meanwhile, Rambabu’s wife Vijayalakshmi approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court with an urgent petition, alleging illegal detention by the police. She claimed that her husband and nearly 60 others had been unlawfully detained.

Seeking immediate relief, Vijayalakshmi urged the court to direct authorities to provide protection to her family for at least 24 hours, citing safety concerns.

Police said the situation in Guntur was being closely monitored.
