Kakinada: Rajamahendravaram Lok Sabha member Daggubati Purandeswari said the railway station in Rajamahendravaram was being upgraded with modern amenities at a cost of over Rs.274 crore.
Participating in the “Asheervada Deepotsavam” programme at Rajamahendravaram on Monday, Purandeswari said the modernisation would provide improved facilities to lakhs of passengers, particularly during major events such as the Pushkaralu.
She said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central government was extending support for the development of Andhra Pradesh, including the construction of the Polavaram project, the capital project at Amaravati, measures to safeguard the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and the establishment of a dedicated railway zone. She said Central government support was crucial for the State’s progress.
She said the event at the Rajamahendravaram railway station reflected the Central government’s focus on development. She said various welfare schemes had been introduced for the poor, farmers, self-help groups, youth, workers and marginalised sections.
Purandeswari said schemes such as Jeevan Jyoti Yojana and Jeevan Suraksha Yojana had provided social security to the poor. Various initiatives had also been implemented to provide social security to workers in the unorganised sector.
