Railways to Fully Fund Pithapuram ROB

Ramana Rao said the estimates would be consolidated and forwarded to the Railway Board to obtain the necessary administrative and technical approvals.

Kakinada:The Railways will fully fund the proposed Railway Over Bridge (ROB) at Pithapuram under the Prime Minister Gati Shakti Scheme, Deputy Chief Engineer J. Ramana Rao said on Saturday.

He said the project had been taken up following a request by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. A joint field inspection of the proposed bridge site has been completed, and the departments concerned have been asked to prepare and submit cost estimates for works falling under their respective jurisdictions.

Ramana Rao said the estimates would be consolidated and forwarded to the Railway Board to obtain the necessary administrative and technical approvals.

He said the proposed overbridge would ease traffic congestion in Pithapuram and ensure safer and faster movement across the railway crossing.

The deputy chief engineer conducted the joint inspection with officials of the Roads and Buildings, Revenue, Municipal and Irrigation departments. Senior Section Engineer Appala Raju, Pithapuram Municipal Commissioner Rajeswara Rao, Irrigation Divisional Engineer Santhosh, Assistant Engineer Prasanna, R&B Assistant Engineer Lova Raju and other officials participated.

To fulfil an election promise, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan had earlier submitted a representation to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw seeking approval for the Pithapuram ROB and other railway projects in the constituency.
