Railways Open 24-Hr Control Room Ahead of Cyclone Arnab
South Coast Railway has set up a round-the-clock control room in Visakhapatnam and intensified safety checks ahead of anticipated heavy rain and strong winds from Cyclone Arnab.

The South Coast Railway zone has opened a round-the-clock control room at its Visakhapatnam headquarters in view of anticipated heavy rainfall and strong winds associated with Cyclone Arnab.
General manager Sandeep Mathur reviewed precautionary measures and disaster management preparedness across the zone to ensure passenger safety and uninterrupted train operations. He held a review meeting with divisional railway managers of the four divisions and heads of departments on Monday.
The zone has intensified surveillance of vulnerable railway bridges, tracks, yards and signalling systems. Special attention is being given to clearing silt, vegetation and debris from catch-water drains and drainage channels to prevent waterlogging.
Patrolmen and watchmen have been deployed at vulnerable locations, while adequate stocks of emergency track maintenance materials have been ensured.
Mathur directed officials to coordinate closely with state government authorities and continuously monitor weather advisories issued by the meteorological department.
A 24x7 war room has also been established at zonal and divisional headquarters to coordinate responses to emergencies.
The railway zone will share timely information through station help desks, helplines and official communication channels. Passengers have been advised to follow official updates on train services and cooperate with railway authorities.
