Vijayawada: The Holy Quran serves as a guide for humanity, illuminating the path for the faithful in every aspect of life from birth to death, a religious congregation was told here on Sunday.
The observation was made by Maulana Muhammad Ameen Umri, who presided over an event on the final day of the 10th state-level Quran recitation and memorisation competition. It was organised by the United Forum for Quranic Studies. A large number of children were present.
Automobile technicians association president Rajanala Venkata Ramana Rao (Babji), stressed the need for reading the divine scriptures to instill moral values in the new generation.
Ramana Rao noted that children are getting addicted to mobile phones and video games, and drifting away from education and adherence to moral values. He appreciated efforts like the Holy Quran’s recitation competition. He urged the organisation to hold more such events.
UFQS chairman Dawood expressed gratitude to the parents who supported this initiative over the past ten years, and all those who contributed to the success of the programme. “In these competitions held over the past four months, nearly 11,000 children did the registrations and around 9,000 students participated from across the districts in the first round,” he said.
Out of these, 480 were selected for the quarter-finals, 176 for the semi-finals, and 44 progressed to the finals. Among the four ABCD groups, 12 students emerged victorious, with three winners from each group.
