Quantum Computing To Shape The Future Of Higher Education: Governor
Technological advancements would prepare students for high-demand careers in information security, drug discovery, and finance: Governor S. Abdul Nazeer

KURNOOL: Governor S. Abdul Nazeer highlighted the growing importance of emerging technologies, stating that the advent of quantum computing is opening new avenues in higher education and helping students develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
As chancellor of Rayalaseema University, Nazeer presided over the fourth convocation ceremony held at the university campus in Kurnool on Wednesday. Upon arrival, he was accorded a warm welcome and received a courtesy call from NCC students.
The Governor said that such technological advancements would prepare students for high-demand careers in information security, drug discovery, and finance. He noted that girl students excelled in academic performance, receiving over 80 per cent of the awards at the convocation, and encouraged the boys to strive for better results in the next ceremony.
He stressed that higher education serves as a gateway to numerous opportunities and equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the global workforce. In a country like India, where socio-economic disparities persist, higher education acts as a great equaliser, he added.
Nazeer further said that institutions of higher learning must focus on producing globally competent graduates capable of contributing to the nation’s progress and technological growth. He also mentioned that the State Government’s vision, Viksit Andhra Pradesh, aims to transform the State into a $2.4 trillion economy by 2047, in alignment with the national vision of Viksit Bharat.
Dr S.S.V. Ramakumar, chief technology officer and executive vice-president of A.M. Green, attended the ceremony as chief guest and orator and was conferred the Honoris Causa degree.
Delivering the convocation address, Ramakumar expressed gratitude to Rayalaseema University for honouring him in recognition of his contributions to science, technology, and the energy sector. He urged students to enhance their skills in modern disciplines such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quantum computing to ensure a future full of opportunities. He emphasised that today’s youth must be prepared to innovate, adapt, and lead the technological transformation shaping the modern world.
Vice-chancellor Prof V. Venkata Basava Rao presented the university’s annual report. The Governor congratulated the faculty and administrative staff for their dedication to advancing higher education in the Rayalaseema region. Later, he also participated in a programme at Montessori English Medium School, marking its 50th anniversary celebrations.
