Purandeswari Says Centre Making Anganwadi, Asha Workers Digitally Literate
Training, technology and welfare measures aim to strengthen health services.

Kakinada: Rajamahendravaram MP Daggubati Purandeswari has said the central government is taking steps to spread digital literacy among Anganwadi and ASHA workers, thereby strengthening the ground-level health systems.
Purandeswari said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had responded to her plea in Lok Sabha regarding the welfare and capacity building of Anganwadi workers and ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers. These included skill development, digital facilities, early disease detection, nutrition awareness, and transparent incentive mechanisms to enhance the capabilities of frontline health and nutrition workers.
According to the MP, the government has accorded special attention to training, welfare, and use of technology by Anganwadi and ASHA workers, recognising their contribution during critical situations, such as the Covid-19 pandemic.
Purandeswari said the centre is implementing continuous residential and non-residential training programmes under the National Health Mission. These include integrated training modules covering maternal and child health, nutrition, digital health services, and comprehensive primary healthcare. Skill laboratories and refresher training programmes are also being organised at district and block levels.
Other initiatives highlighted by the MP include coverage under Ayushman Bharat schemes, establishment of ASHA centres, institution of ASHA Awards, opportunities for higher education, and a structured grievance redressal mechanism to address issues related to payments and working conditions.
The Lok Sabha member said these measures would help improve the efficiency of frontline health workers and facilitate quicker resolution of their concerns.
