Annamayya Dt: Tension prevailed in Punganur of Annamayya district on Friday after clashes broke out between the ruling coalition and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) workers during the filing of nominations for the local body elections. Workers of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSRCP allegedly pelted stones at each other, leaving several people injured. The convoy of YSRCP MP P.V. Mithun Reddy also came under a stone attack during the clashes.
TDP leader Madhusudhan Royal sustained serious injuries in the incident. Several vehicles were damaged in the stone pelting, with six vehicles reported to have been vandalised.
