NHAI special deputy collector Venkatapathi has been named the returning officer for the Pulivendula bypoll

ANANTAPUR: The Pulivendula-centered politics is warming up following the by-poll for the Pulivendula ZPTC seat. The seat fell vacant due to the death of the sitting YSRC member last year.

This being the home turf of YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the party is keen on retaining the seat. It has fielded the son of the deceased member, while TD is itching to grab the seat. It is planning to field either the wife of B Tech Ravi or his brother.
Sunil Yadav, who was accused in Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case differed with Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy and other YSRC leaders from Pulivendula after his release on bail, and went on to file his nomination as an independent candidate.

APCC chief Y.S. Sharmila also fielded a candidate. Kadapa DRO Visweswara Naidu told the media that 12 nominations were received for the bypoll.

NHAI special deputy collector Venkatapathi has been named the returning officer for the Pulivendula bypoll. The DRO said there were 10601 voters, and 15 polling stations would be set up in the ZP constituency. Nominations were received from August 1 to 2. Withdrawal would be on August 5 till 3.30pm.

While the YSRC is confident on retaining the seat, TD leaders from Pulivendula are keen on seeing the party winning the seat. The party incharge B Tech Ravi would either field his wife or his brother with support from BJP leaders.
