Pulicat Flamingo Festival on January 10–11

Nellore: The Flamingo Festival would be held on January 10 and 11 along the scenic Pulicat Lake coast, showcasing the region’s rich biodiversity, culture and eco-tourism.
The festival, planned on a larger scale than last year, is expected to attract a large number of visitors from across the state.
Events would take place at multiple locations including the Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary, Attakanithippa, BV Palem Point, Ubbalamadugu Waterfalls and Irukkam Island, offering visitors facilities for bird-watching, nature trails and tourism experiences.

The main venue would feature cultural programmes, exhibitions and stalls set up by Sri City, Sriharikota, handloom artisans and various government departments. Adventure activities such as boating, paragliding and hot-air ballooning would be organised at BV Palem with adequate safety arrangements.
To promote environmental awareness, around 6,000 school students would be taken on guided visits over the two days at government expense.
Comprehensive traffic management and security, including CCTV and drone surveillance, have been arranged to handle large crowds and ensure public safety. Visitors have been advised to follow traffic regulations and cooperate with authorities.
Tirupati district collector S Venkateswar and SP L Subbrayudu inspected the Nelapattu and Pulicat Bird Sancturies on Wednesday.
District forest officer Venkata Giri Srikant, RDOs Bhanupakash Reddy and Kiranmayi, Sullurpet municipal chairman Srimanth Reddy, senior police officials, other department officers, public representatives and local residents were present.
