Public Satisfaction with Government Services Lukewarm in Kurnool District

The government’s review has found that public perception is not satisfactory in Kadapa and Nandyal districts as well.

Kurnool: Public satisfaction with government services in Kurnool district appears to be significantly lagging behind other districts, according to a recent review of the government’s public perception. The district recorded only 66.5 per cent positive feedback, far below several other districts that crossed the 90 per cent mark.

Officials say delays in effectively delivering welfare schemes to beneficiaries have contributed to the lower satisfaction levels. Though a few sectors have shown moderate improvement, the district overall remains behind on multiple indicators.

The government’s review has found that public perception is not satisfactory in Kadapa and Nandyal districts as well. The situation also finds reflection in the recent SSC results, where Kurnool district slipped to the 25th position, marking one of its poorest performances in recent years. Other Rayalaseema districts also failed to secure a place in the top 10. YSR Kadapa stood 18th, Nandyal 19th, Tirupati 20th, Sri Sathya Sai 22nd, and Anantapur stood 23rd in SSC results.

A ZP school teacher from Yemmiganur expressed concern, saying, “We have put in our best efforts. But we never expected the results to be so disappointing.” An RTC official acknowledged public disappointment and said, “We are analysing the reasons behind the low public satisfaction. We are committed to improving service delivery to meet people’s expectations.” Poor road maintenance has emerged as a major point of public dissatisfaction. Residents have criticised Roads and Buildings and Panchayat Raj departments for negligence.

S. Maddileti, a resident of Adoni, said, “Even small roads are not being repaired. The situation has become worse due to official negligence.” In this regard, officials of Kurnool, Nandyal, and Kadapa are preparing reports ahead of the District Collectors Conference scheduled on May 7th and May 8 in Amaravati under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Officials said that these three districts are still lagging behind in several key indicators. They are working on strategies to overcome the gaps. Further, people have expressed significant concerns over the recent petrol and diesel shortage, particularly in Kurnool, Nandyal, and Kadapa districts. Public resentment grew as many felt that the situation arose due to inadequate monitoring by collectors and other senior officials.
