Prudent Electricity Use Cuts Carbon Emissions
The collector requested all people of the state to switch off lights and fans at offices and homes when not required

VIJAYAWADA: Guntur district collector A. Tamim Ansaria underlined that prudent use of electricity would significantly reduce carbon emissions arising from power generation, while ensuring energy security for future generations. Ansaria flagged off an electricity conservation awareness procession in Guntur, along with joint collector Ashutosh Srivastava, as part of the National Energy Conservation Week celebrations organised by the Electricity department. They released posters promoting fuel conservation and energy-saving tips.
The collector requested all people of the state to switch off lights and fans at offices and homes when not required. They must opt only for star-rated, energy-efficient electronic appliances. Emphasising on the importance of renewable energy, she encouraged the use of solar power. In this regard, she pointed out that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, is extending subsidies for installation of rooftop solar installations.
Ansaria referred to Andhra Pradesh winning several national awards in energy efficiency and said citizens must continue the same spirit and become role models in saving electricity and preventing wastage.
District Revenue officer N.S.K. Khaja Vali, apart from other officials and citizens, participated in the procession.
