Prof. Usha Takes Charge as Registrar of SPMVV
Prof. Usha has published 63 research papers, authored eight books and book chapters, completed nine national research projects and held two patents
Nellore: Professor R. Usha has assumed charge as the registrar of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV). She brings over two decades of experience in teaching, research, academic leadership and university administration.
A professor in the department of biotechnology since 2013, Prof. Usha had earlier served SPMVV as associate professor (2006–2012) and lecturer (2001–2005). She also worked as a teaching assistant at Sri Venkateswara University and as a CSIR senior research fellow and research associate. In all, she has 21 years of postgraduate teaching and research experience.
Prof. Usha has published 63 research papers, authored eight books and book chapters, completed nine national research projects and held two patents. She has guided 10 Ph.D. scholars and is associated with a university start-up. Her academic profile includes participation in 42 international and 67 national conferences and academic visits to Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
She has held several key administrative roles, including APRCET convenor (2024–25), associate dean (international relations), chairman, board of studies, and placement officer.
Addressing the media, Prof. Usha said her goal is to place SPMVV among the top 100 institutions in the NIRF rankings through collective efforts. Vice-chancellor Prof. V. Uma, former registrar Prof. N. Rajani, deputy registrar Dr B. Geethavani and staff congratulated her on assuming charge.
