Proddutur: Man Murders Wife Over Her Weight, Eating Habits
The accused allegedly told police he was unhappy with his wife’s weight and eating habits, which led to frequent fights.
YSR Kadapa: Proddatur police on Tuesday said they have solved the murder of a housewife and arrested her husband in the case. Presenting the accused before the media, ASP Vibhu Krishna shared details about the case. Bhadripalle Kiran Kumar, a native of Proddatur, was arrested for the murder of his wife, Padmaja.
The couple, married for eight years, lived in Eshwar Nagar and has a seven-year-old daughter. Police said the couple had been facing marital discord. Kiran allegedly told police he was unhappy with his wife’s weight and eating habits, which led to frequent fights. She was also suspicious in nature, and Padmaja started staying at her parents’ home in recent times.
Kiran, who had developed hatred towards his wife, decided to eliminate her and searched on the internet and procured poison from Hyderabad in a pre-planned manner. Kiran brought her back home days before the incident on April 29, police said. He laced the sweet with poison and gave it to her. After she consumed the sweet, she fell unconscious. Doubtful whether she had died, Kiran smothered her with a pillow and killed her. After she died at their residence, he informed her parents. Suspecting foul play, they filed a police complaint.
The post-mortem report also indicated that she was poisoned and led the police to take Kiran into custody. During questioning, he confessed to the murder, police said. He was remanded to judicial custody. Police added that Kiran was involved in an extramarital affair in Hyderabad a year ago, but found no evidence linking the other woman to Padmaja’s death. The case was premeditated, and further investigation is underway.
